Our Story

A shop built by a barber who was done waiting for someone else to build it.

Ironside Barbershop opened in East Nashville in 2018, when Deshawn Ellis decided that after 12 years cutting hair at other people's shops, it was time to run one his own way.

Meet the Owner

Deshawn Ellis, Owner & Master Barber

Deshawn spent 12 years behind other people's chairs before opening Ironside in 2018 — tired of shops where pricing was whatever the barber felt like charging that day, and where booking meant a phone call nobody answered. He built Ironside to fix both: every service listed with a real price, and online booking that lets a client pick their exact barber and time slot, the same way they'd pick a table at a restaurant. Eight years and roughly 20,000 cuts later, he still works the chair every day the shop is open, and he still trains every barber who joins the team personally.

The Shop

Quilted leather chairs, warm low light, and a floor that feels more like a men's club than a chain storefront. Deshawn built Ironside to be a place regulars want to sit around in, not just cut through.

The Standard

Every barber at Ironside trains under Deshawn before they touch a paying client's head. Straight pricing, no upselling at the register, and a fade that looks the same whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth.
